Embracing Naturally Curly Hair

We all have to come to that conclusion at some point.

Since I can remember, I have always had a head full of wild, curly hair. When I was little it was embraced, but as I got older I tried to fight it every step of the way. Using heating tools, creams, treatments, or basically anything I could get my hands on in middle school to have pretty, pin straight hair. Now that I am older, I have realized some really cool things about my natural hair, or naturally curly hair in general. So if you are feeling like your locks are in need of some TLC, try out the natural look because of these (and many other) things:

1. It is special to you.

The way your hair dries naturally is one of the most unique features about you. No one else will ever have the same texture, waves, or curls that you do because they are completely authentic. Anyone can use a straighter or curler to create a certain look, but "natural" cannot simply be made.

2. It is much healthier for your hair.

The less heat or product you use is always for the better. It will ensure that your hair will grow and flourish in its natural state.

3. Many people wish they had it.

You might find it annoying, but there are so many people out there that would love to have twisted locks! Don't take your natural beauty for granted.

4. It is beautiful.

I'm not quite sure why we began to see straightened hair as prettier, but sometimes that's just not the case. You don't need to spend hours fixing your hair, regardless of what you might think. No one will think you are any less beautiful if you go natural.

5. Mother nature.

Let's be honest with ourselves. Living in environments where the humidity is high or it could rain at any time, straightening ends up being pointless. If you let those curls shine through in the beginning, you won't be disappointed in your hair getting ruined.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
