"Baby, we're back!" croons Wesley Stromberg as he and his bandmates of Emblem3 take the stage for the first night of their Waking Up Tour in Minneapolis, Minnesota at Varsity Theatre. It's the first tour the boys have played since they've reunited, and they, along with fans, anxiously counted down every minute and moment until they took the stage together for the first time in years that Thursday summer night.
Seeing Emblem3 back together on stage performing old and new songs was everything I had wished and hoped for since the day I learned they were breaking up. Their reignited chemistry and passion for their music poured life into the show and their fans. It was a night to remember as the band delivered a high energy performance that stayed consistent throughout the entire show and left many in the audience, including myself, to forget that Emblem3 had even broken up.
It's been a while since the boys have all been together performing music. Flashing back to June 2014, Emblem3 fans were devastated when the band announced through a newsletter they were parting ways. Emblem3 was down to Emblem2 as Drew Chadwick decided to leave the group to start a solo career, leaving band members and brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg behind. It seemed that everything the band had worked toward and accomplished after their shot to fame in 2012 during The X Factor USA had been thrown away. Or, so fans thought.
While the band took a year-long break, they reunited again in late 2015. After their time apart, the band confirmed they were back together and creating new music with many surprises to come for fans. The band made their first emotional break through the indefinite period of silence by posting a cover of Adele's song "Hello." It was every bit nostalgic as the cover song and video depicted an emotional message showing the boys back together apologizing through the music to each other and the fans for leaving.
Early 2016 was the start of a new era for Emblem3. They released a brand new song titled "Now" on YouTube as a tribute to fans and the band's past. Shortly after the release of their song, the band revealed a brand new app designed to host the release of their Waking Up EP. The EP features six new songs that capture the old sound and essence of E3 while mixing in the anticipation and excitement of all the future things that are to come for the band.
I can confidently say after seeing the boys together again on tour that the boys still have it; they still have the same charisma and charm that they had four years ago when I first saw them on "The X Factor USA." They also still have the same edge, entertaining personalities and fun Californian vibe that many fans fell in love with when they first discovered the band.
Emblem3 still possesses some of the same adorable and admirable characteristics that they had at the beginning of their musical journey, but they've definitely grown up since the last time I saw them. Their music has always been lyrically strong, but their new material seems to communicate more of what they have been aspiring to create. While the EP is only a glimpse of what the album will be like, if it's anything like the EP, the fans are in for a treat.
The first night of the's new tour was solid. Emblem3 came back strong, on fire and met every fan's expectations. The tour was so good I had to hit the road to follow them and experience it another time. I traveled to Chicago for round two and it was one of the best times of my life. I enjoyed seeing the boys again and got the chance to meet them too. It was amazing and by far the highlight of my summer.
The boys are currently taking their summer tour all across the United States and are most likely coming to a city near you. Catch Emblem3 on their Waking Up Tour until late June 2016. They have The Ready Set and Megan Nicole joining them. It's a high energy show you don't want to miss. Find more information here.
