Electrical engineers design, test and supervise the making of electrical equipment for use to the public. Electrical engineers test even the smallest equipment for the safety of the public. They have to be very specific and patient so nothing ever goes wrong. Electrical engineers also need a witty attitude as they have to keep on improving their creations. Lastly, electrical engineers can also test their creations in different environments and conditions.

An electrical engineer’s salary cap starts at $95,230 and can increase based on the company and line of work. Electrical engineers need a bachelor’s degree which can mean three to seven years in college. One of the colleges that offer a bachelor’s degree is MIT or The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In order to get into MIT, a person has to take challenging classes and do extracurricular activities. A person will have to take a year of biology, physics, chemistry, taken two years of a foreign language, math through calculus and four years of English.

One of the many careers that use the knowledge associated with alternating current and direct current are electricians. Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in homes, businesses and factories. Many people and businesses rely on electricians to fix everyday necessities in their workplaces. If your television stops working or the phone wires have issues, you call the electrician to fix it. The electricians use special tools such as the multimeter to measure voltage, current and resistance in a circuit. Without the important role of electricians, the community would be facing problems that would hold businesses from moving forward and prevent people from enjoying everyday luxuries.

An average electrician makes $60,000 - $70,000 annually based on work hours and average pay. Electricians need a high school diploma and also need to complete four years of apprenticeship programs. A college that offers this program is Lincoln Tech university. Lincoln Tech offers many courses across the field of AC/DC that electricians would benefit electricians. Lincoln Tech has many location across the country, but the closest one is in Marietta, Atlanta. The only requirements to get into Lincoln Tech is a high school diploma or a GED.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
