It's Important To Build A Strong Relationship With Your Bartender

It's Important To Build A Strong Relationship With Your Bartender

Did you just turn 21 and you're not sure what to order? Or what you might even like? We've all been there, and here's why you should get to know one or two bartenders early on.

If you're like me, you'll probably hate the bitter taste of alcohol. You'll glance over the beer and wine and go right to the cocktails. You'll ask for the sweetest drinks because even though it's an alcoholic drink, you won't want to taste the alcohol. At least, not in the beginning.

It helps when your bartender knows this because even if it is a cocktail, it still might not be the sweetest or best tasting. I always ask for their opinion and sometimes they'll make me something that isn't even on the menu, which is always really exciting because you're not sticking to the very first "decent" drink you've had.

The reason why I believe in getting to know your bartender, is because I personally get something I like and stick to that one thing. It does take a bit for me to venture out and try new things, but having someone who knows you well does a lot of good. Even if they make fun of how sweet you need your drinks, they'll always make sure you'll like it because it's their job.

Another reason I think it's important to build a relationship with your bartender is that it's honestly just fun being able to talk to the bartender while you're drinking and hanging out. A lot of the time they're pretty entertaining and good with talking to people who might be a bit too tipsy, and they'll look out for you each time.

Sometimes through talking with them, you'll even learn about how to make the drinks. If you happen to want to become a bartender in the future, they'll be willing to give you tips and maybe even let you try out with making one depending on what place it is. Maybe when you do decide to become one, you can apply and they will put in a good word for you. Who knows what could happen.

Don't sit in the corner with the same Moscoto or Cocktail, which I'm extremely guilty of. Ask as many questions as you want because that's what they're used to.

They have all the answers you could need.

Starting to drink can be a bit overwhelming at times because there are so many different options to choose from, but bartenders know what they're doing and they'll ease you into it. Trust them and the start of your 21st will be a great one.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
