Why I Enjoy Editing Video
video editing

To some people, editing film can seem very boring or time-consuming. There are so many complications when it comes to editing. The computer freezes, a clip is somehow missing, the program wigs out, and so many other issues that can happen while you are editing. Plus it can stressful, most likely a due date for a video will sneak up on you, without you even realizing, and then all of the complications begin to occur. It can be stressful to get a video done on time, because these complications can get in the way and put you behind. On top of all of that, the stress of getting a positive or negative reaction from your audience.

I joined an ROP TV/Video class while I was in high school and I had the best teacher. I took the class for my junior and senior year of high school. For the first semester we were required to learn all of the material and terms, and the second semester, we were required to put on a weekly ten-minute show for the high school, which aired on Fridays. The class gave me a lot of experience in editing, but I also learned other positions and responsibilities of a TV crew. This class also gave me the chance to be a leader, as I took the role of director and assistant producer, my senior year. The class gave me confidence on trying different techniques that I was not comfortable trying before. This class made me realized how much I loved this area of work and specifically editing.

There is a lot to editing. As I said earlier, editing is a very time-consuming process, but in all honesty, you do not realize the time that has gone by until you look up at the clock. You can be working for three hours and it feels like maybe thirty minutes have passed by. The great thing about editing is that is not always the same. There are always different routes an editor can take, depending the taste he wants for his or her video. The art of an editor is to grab all of the puzzle pieces and put them in the right locations to create a story. Editing has several options you can do to your video.A simple change can make a video better or worse. An editor can change a video dramatically just by editing a specific way, and that’s the power of editing.

Editing does make me stress out at times, but it is one of my hobbies I enjoy to do as well. The way I see it is, in life everything has its negatives, it is just if your willing to look at the positive. I enjoy editing even though it can be annoying and sometimes stressful. It is the finished product that makes everything worth it. I feel like I am creating a story to tell people. In a way, editing has given me a voice with my videos I have created. It has gotten me to put myself out there and become more confident in myself in general.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
