Gerald Earl Gillum, known to the music world as G-Eazy, has come a long way since releasing his first singles and mixtapes while attending Loyola University in New Orleans. Having begun his rise to fame by opening for Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg, G-Eazy is currently on his own worldwide headlining tour with support from A$AP Ferg, Marc E. Bassy, and Nef the Pharaoh promoting his sophomore album, “When It’s Dark Out,” and performed at two packed shows in Philadelphia at The Fillmore last week.
“When It’s Dark Out,” which was released on December 4, 2015, debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart and number one on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album’s lead single “Me, Myself & I” features vocals from Bebe Rexha and has since remained at the top of the iTunes music charts. G-Eazy may rap about the typical subjects from fame to Ferraris, but he does it in a way that is not overly clichéd. Some highlights from the album include the tracks “You Got Me,” a catchy club-ready track, and “Drifting,” a more soulful track featuring Chris Brown and Tory Lanez.
After finishing up his domestic tour, G-Eazy will be traveling overseas for shows in Australia and Europe. Check out his tour dates below:
