As Halloween creeps up on us at the end of the month, people everywhere are trying to plan the perfect costume(s) to wear for the celebration(s). Unfortunately, generic Halloween costumes sold in stores can cost anywhere from $20 up to $100, which is generally out of the budget for college students. If a store-bought Halloween costume isn't an option for you this year, there's always the homemade route. Here is a list of easy Halloween costumes for the broke college kid:
1. Sim
Probably the easiest costume out there. Download, print and assemble your plumbob (found here), attach it to an old headband with wire, and wear whatever outfit you want! Extra points in you speak in gibberish the whole night.
2. Tina from "Bob's Burgers"
You probably already have all the components to dress as Tina Belcher this year. A blue shirt and skirt, knee-high socks, converse, glasses and a yellow Barrett are all you need. Carry around a notebook full of erotic friend fiction to really get in the spirit.
3. Shark Week
Dressing as shark week is a fun and easy group costume. Make your own day-of-the-week shirts with spray paint or black tape and find a cheap shark hat online.
4. Max from "Where the Wild Things Are"

5. Kim Possible or Ron Possible

Sound weird? It is. Original? Definitely. The hardest part about this costume is making the green stalks to wear on your head. For that, take a piece of green construction paper, tape the ends together and cut out a triangle pattern. Repeat with as many layers as desired. Tape securely to a headband. Complete the outfit with your yellowest dress and you'll be the brightest one at your party.
All of these easy Halloween costumes can be constructed by things that you, or a friend, probably already have tucked away in your closet. With some simple DIY modifications, you're ready to celebrate the season.
