With the heat rising and sunny skies starting to appear, the three-day weekend is finally calling out our name. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, sitting around a bonfire, or enjoying a backyard BBQ; these five cocktails are sure to pair nicely with whatever your holiday weekend has in store.

Citrus Mojito; a cool and refreshing drink. Great for lounging by the pool working on that tan.

Start by muddling oranges, limes, sugar, and mint leaves in a glass. Add 2 and a half ounces of white rum and ice. Shake in a cocktail shaker or stir then pour into a large rocks glass and top with orange juice and sprite.

Deep Blue Sea Martini; the drink you want if you want to feel like you've got your toes in the ocean and your booty in a beach chair.

*Bonus, it matches the oceans of that tropical island you're wishing you were on.

Pour two ounces of American Blue Ice Vodka, three quarter ounces of sweet and sour mix, half an ounce of blue curacao (this is where the drink gets that gorgeous color!) and a half ounce of pineapple mix into a cocktail shaker and shake it up! Strain into cocktail glass, rim with sugar and garnish with lemon or lime.

The Bay of Passion; coral colored and garnished with lemon. Just the name will be enough to get you saying "we'll have another round".

42 Below Passion Vodka is shaken with cranberry juice and pineapple juice with some ginger added in for some extra zing. Garnish with a lemon and you're ready to get the passion flowing.

Boozy slushy anyone? This Vodka Strawberry Lemonade Slushy will take you back to the day of spiking your slurpee in the 7-Eleven parking lot.

Toss three cut up strawberries, three fourths of a cup of lemon juice, half a cup of sugar, three fourths of a cup of vodka, and a third a cup of Cointreau liquor in to a blender with ice and mix. Pour into a glass and garnish with strawberry or lemon.

Midnight Cowboy; this boozed up coffee delight will keep you going until you have to go back to work Tuesday morning.

In any glass pour two shots of espresso and about an inch and a half of cream. Add one shot of Fireball Whiskey. Top with Bailey's Irish Cream, whipped cream, caramel and cinnamon.

Maybe these five drinks won't transport you to an exotic location but they might make you feel like they can for just a few sips. Because let's face it, we all want to be somewhere on a beach, sippin' something strong.

Happy Holiday Weekend!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
