There are too many people who think they need name brand clothing, or they need to change their appearance to please others. Who decided that? Everyone needs more self-confidence. These people tend to lose sight of their priorities because they think they need materialistic things.
I’m not saying that if you have the money to buy expensive clothing, shoes or purses to stop, but don’t make those around you who can’t feel like they have too just because you’re more fortunate.
Our society is just too harsh on appearances and they often look past the great qualities that a person could have. “Self-confidence is the most attractive quality a person can have”. All to often we, as people, let the media define who we are suppose to be and we stray away from the person we were born to be.
When was it ever decided that we should judge someone for having blue hair, or judging people based on things they can’t control, like skin color or a speech impairment? (makes no sense, right?) I think that if you wake up in the morning and you love what you look like and what you’re wearing then you should rock it, and not shy away from others who don’t think so. (chances are they have some self-image issues themselves)
We, as people, need to be more acceptable that everyone is not going to look, act, or think like you. We need to be more accepting of those around us, and be more encouraging for those to dress, look, and act how they feel comfortable.
I’ll use a personal example. Every year at the fair I get a feather put in my hair, and I get a lot of comments saying that it’s cute, but that person won’t get one because it’s “not in style” anymore. I simply tell that person how I enjoy getting one every year because it’s unique and not a lot of people have it. I like the boho chic style that has been in lately it just blends well with my personality.
Dress to fit your personality, and not to other’s expectations.
