Drake's hit new single "God's Plan" has been the TOP SONG on Billboard Hot 100 since its debut four weeks ago. In less than a week, the music video has over 34 MILLION views!! Drake used his influence, power, and money for good. He donated nearly the entirety of the budget for "God's Plan" music video and successfully turned good deeds into viral entertainment. So where exactly did the 1 million dollars donated in the music video go? Let me break it down for you (with the help of MTV)...
To start, $20,000 was donated to the City of Miami Fire Department.
A $50,000 check was made out to the Lotus House Women's Shelter, a shelter for women and children based in Miami, FL.
Drake also donated 130 $150 Target gift cards to the women of the Lotus House Women's Shelter, that's $19,500.
So far that's $89,500.
A $50,000 scholarship was donated to Destiny James, a junior at University of Miami.
$10,000 went to The University of Miami's music school.
A total of $50,000 was spent at a grocery store, where Drake announced that all groceries were on him.
We are only at $199,500.
Out of the total of $996,631.90, it is not clear exactly how much was donated where; however, the video is FILLED with Drake handing random strangers stacks of cash, taking women on shopping sprees, buying toys for dozens of children, and just being KIND.
In the end, all $996,631.90 went to humans in need and supported the city of Miami.
Drake posted on his Instagram, "I am not into challenges on IG I find them annoying, but today I am going to challenge everyone to just go out and do something for someone...Anything, the smallest thing, just to bring another human being some joy and please tag me in it somehow so I can see all the love being spread..."
So, go out and complete the challenge, not just today, not just tomorrow, but everyday for the rest of your life. Money is not needed to donate kindness, integrity, and love.
