Sleep is something that hangs in the balance of college life. It’s often sacrificed for a night out with friends, or if you’re a good student, studying for exams. Regardless, the times you can find to sleep are times you shouldn’t take for granted. They come few and far between.
Instead of doing homework, studying for exams, or literally anything productive, somehow college will have you finding yourself sleeping in the middle of public places. It happens to the best of us. You'll be surprised by how often you wake up places that aren't your bed. Even these short naps, private or not, can make all the difference in your pursuit of higher education.
Sleeping helps your brain rest, gives your body a break, and gives you more balance in your life. You don't study as well when you're tired, you're grumpier and more unpleasant, and you end up falling asleep when you shouldn't.
It's better to sleep between classes on a bench than it is to fall asleep during your class as your professor glares at the top of your head and decides not to round up your 89.99% to a 90% at the end of the semester.
So if you nap when and where you can, your friends and family will be happier, you will be happier, and your grades may even be a little happier. Your bed may miss you, but you're sure to find some interesting new nap spots!
