Did I just read this right? Did this college-age girl just tell me she doesn’t like the beach? Yes, is the answer to both of those questions, but I have my reasons and I have listed them out for you to understand my distaste for beaches.

When It turns to summer, everyone heads to the beach to take a swim or layout to get that perfect summer tan. Which brings me to the first reason I don’t enjoy the beach:

1. The crowds!

There are always so many people at the beach. Crowds don’t relax me or entice me to come visit. With so many people at the beach, how can anyone enjoy themselves or even find a good place to lay out and tan?

2. Tanning!

Tanning brings me to the second reason why the beach and I are not friends. I don’t tan well, in fact I burn. Which makes the beach an unpleasant place to be? No one enjoys getting sunburnt, especially when it leads to pain and very little color.

3. Swim Suits

The next reason the beach is the worst is the bathing suits. When you go to the beach nowadays it’s all about wearing the cutest swimsuit for your Instagram pictures. I am all about cute photos, but finding the perfect bathing suit is harder than it looks. A swim suit has to fit you properly, which is always hard task to complete, and when you are uncomfortable with your body shape it is even more challenging.

4. All of that sand in ungodly places.

Yet, my biggest reason for disliking the beach is the sand. I despise sand and all that it does. This may sound a little irrational. I don’t disagree, but sand is evil.

It tricks you into thinking it is warm and comfortable in between your toes. Then the sand gets unbearably hot. So, your next response is to cool off in the water. Then you get out of the water and the sand gets stuck to you! Then you think to yourself I can wash off this off in the water. What a bright idea till you get out and the sand gets stuck on you all over again.

Sand is a pain at the beach, but It also follows you home and does not depart for many weeks. In fact, it could months since you went to the beach, but you still find sand in your shoes, clothes, and bed. By the time you get rid of the sand your friends drag you to the beach all over again.

In conclusion, you can see the beach isn’t as lovely as it seems in photos. In fact, is an annoying place to spend your time and I can find many other ways to pass my summer time. The beach isn’t for me, and if you don’t like it either you aren’t alone in your distaste.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
