Bethesda, a gaming company famous for its games like Fallout, Skyrim, Dishonored and Doom 3, has recently updated their blog with an important announcement, “We will continue our policy of sending media review copies one day before release.” Short, sweet and to the point as to why many reviewers have yet to receive review copies for the Skyrim Special Edition and Dishonored 2 coming out.
Why does it matter that Bethesda is “continuing” this policy of sending review copies out one day before launch, one might ask… to answer that, I pose a question, do you trust companies to tell us everything wrong with their game before launch? Bethesda’s policy of sending review copies one day before launch is completely a power play by them to try and control the message that a game sends out prior to launch. The success of a game is made on it’s first week of sales, and if no one has had time to warn everyone about a bad game, the bad game is successful and companies learn that they don’t have to care about what the consumer wants.
Don’t let Bethesda get away with trying to hide imperfections in their game, we have a right to know well before launch if something has problems, and it shouldn’t be hidden from the public like some scandal.
