Don't Get Towed!

A list of apartments around Starkville that tow

Don't Get Towed!

I've had my fair share of parking tickets, boots, and tows. I'd say close to 7 times but who's counting. After many angry phone calls and lots of money later, I was able to pay it off. Honestly, at this point I understand I'm a bad driver and parker, but that doesn't mean I can't help other people! So here's a list of apartment complexes in Starkville that tow/boot.

*DISCLAIMER*: every business has the right to tow you but here are places that openly advertise

These places are the scum of the Earth (but that's a whole other article).

ANYWAYS...

1. Helix

The amount of money I've given Parrish Towingfrom this apartment complex is embarrassing. They towed me during a HURRICANE! Helix has no remorse and will call to get your car towed. The best thing about Helix is they boot you before they tow it, so you still have time to grab your car before they haul it off <3. (You still have to pay money to get the boot off though)

2. Social Campus

Social has the WORST visitor parking I've ever experienced. They have two parking lots for the entire complex and they tow very frequently. I've learned they don't tow during the day, only at night. So move your car before 12 AM

3. Campus Trails

Campus Trails advertise that they tow, however, I have left my car there many times and have not gotten towed. I actually leave my car there at night to walk over to Social Campus pretty frequently. Also, my friend that lives at Campus Trails says that they do not tow. Thanks, Campus Trails :)

4. College View

College View is an absolute BEAST when it comes to towing. I've heard stories of people leaving their car parked and coming back ten minutes later to find it towed. If you ever go to College View, DO NOT DRIVE. Honestly, I would just walk. They tow all day every day. It's not worth paying the towing fee and going all the way down Hwy 12 to get it back.

5. The Vista

The Vista also likes to tow. I don't know why considered the people that live there pay so much fricken money. I would be mad too if I got towed from my own apartment complex. But I guess that's the price you have to pay for living in the Cotton District. I would think twice about parking anywhere near the Vista. I had a friend that parked there LEGALLY and got towed.

6. Lakeside

Lakeside is relatively close to the towing company that's here in Stark but coincidently they don't tow. You can park anywhere you want for however long and don't have to worry about your car.

7. Aspen heights

I don't know if Aspen changed their policy on towing/visiting after the crimes that happened. However last year when I would visit Aspen, I didn't have to worry about being towed. I can't say for certain if they don't tow now, however, if they did not update their policy then go ahead and park.

8. The Retreat

The Retreat has a handbook that explicitly states what you can and can't do while parking. It doesn't look like they take too kindly to visitor parking because their resident parking rules are pretty extensive. It states you can't park ANY motor vehicle without first signing and registering. I don't know how frequently the tow companies roll through this place but be cautious.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
