Living your dreams. It's something that everyone hopes to do and accomplish at some point in their life. But it's not always as easy as it seems. Everyone has to go to work and pay the bills, and unfortunately, most people are forced to pick their career based on what allows them to still pay the bills, rather than doing what they actually want. Aside from that, there is just fear that other's won't approve, and that approval is what so many look for. Without even realizing it, how many of you have actually picked your major based around what your parents wanted you to pursue, because it was a more "financially stable" career? I'm sure it's more of you than you think.
The fact is:
People hold themselves back from their dreams, because they think that other's won't approve, and so they become scared to pursue what they really want.
Now I'm not saying that paying the bills and becoming financially independent aren't important. They are essential parts of being able to survive. And living paycheck to paycheck is nobody's dream. However, why should be forget about our passions completely because we've chosen the more "sensible" route?
This all stems from a video posted by a girl I know on Facebook talking about how people have two lives within them: the one they live, and the one they want to live. Meaning exactly what my point is: people will put their dreams on hold because it may not be "sensible." So why can't people be "sensible" and have a stable career and still live out their dreams. Granted, it may not be in the exact way or fashion that you always thought it would be, but there is still a way to pursue your dreams while being able to have stability in your life.
So many people live their life without actually living it. Everyone goes to work everyday, but how many take a dance class after work because they always loved ballet and dreamed of being a professional dancer? How many people get home from a long day, make dinner, and turn on the tv, rather than coach a local youth soccer league because that was their favorite sport growing up? There are still plenty of ways to live out your dreams, while still making sure that you are able to pay your rent or mortgage every month.
The point is, that it doesn't matter how you live out your dream, just as long as you're doing what you're passionate about. If you love to paint, don't put that on hold, take a painting class or make yourself a craft room in your house. If you're passionate about biking or running, sign up for a marathon and pursue what you love most in life.
Your dreams are what make you who you are. So make sure that you don't let them die just because you chose the "sensible" route. Make them flourish because they're what bring joy to your life.
