Girls, don't find your worth in that boy. You know the one I'm talking about — the cute boy in class who you simply cannot seem to take your eyes off of, that guy you simply cannot get over how cute he is (even though he is very taken), or the one who broke your heart and you thought that he was in love with you.
I've been there, and I'm still there. I'm twenty years old and I realize how fragile my heart is and how desperate I sometimes feel for love. I don't have all of the answers, and I don't pretend to; I'm still figuring it out just like every single other girl on this planet.
As a Christian, however, we are called to find our identity in Christ.
I know what you're thinking, "I've heard this a million times, but what the frick does that even mean?!?" I feel you, girlfriend — we hear it all too often and it seems like everybody has the answer figured out but you. Let me tell you a secret — they don't. We are all struggling and striving for the true freedom and security that comes with realizing that our worth and our identity are found in Jesus Christ, and in Him alone.
Much easier said than done, I get that — 100%. I am nowhere near perfect. The only perfect person to have walked this earth was Jesus himself. Little things each day add up over time. For example, spending time in God's Word is one of the easiest ways that we can connect with Him whenever we feel lost or disconnected from God. If you're struggling with finding your identity or your worth in boys, or even in the crummy things this world has to offer, don't live in your guilt. Conviction is constructive, guilt is merely destructive and heartbreaking. Jesus is "the way and the truth and the life."
How comforting it is to know that we serve a God who is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. Whether you're super single or happily taken, there is so much life left to live and so much of your time left to give. Cling to Jesus and the reality that your worth is found in the only One who offers life and offers it abundantly.
Be patient, dear one, you are so strong and so beautiful — don't you ever believe the lies that the devil feeds you.
