It is summer and before you know it high school students who have graduated are going to be going on to the next step of their lives, college.
I know there are people who are keen on going to university and getting away from Mom and Dad but you guys should consider doing community college for the first couple of years.
I know what you are thinking "Why would I go to a college where I know so many people it's like high school all over again" or "But that's only for people who are dumb and have no clue what they want in life" or "But that degree is not as good as a degree from a university."
Well, let me tell you that community college is a valid option I got my Gen Ed requirements out of the way, I only have to take a certain amount of credits just to get a bachelors degree, I was undecided going into community college but after some time there and realizing what I loved to do I realized I wanted to be a journalist and a writer. I also managed to not only make new friends along the way I also gained a second family.
Some famous people who went to community college are: Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks, "Star Wars" filmmaker George Lucas, actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman.
Without community college I wouldn't have found what I truly wanted to do in life, I wouldn't have grown more as a person, made friends with some amazing people, get the help I needed, be finally finished with math, and be exposed to some amazing things.
If I had chose to go to university right after high school I would have been in mountains of debt, I would have had to have been there longer than I had planned to be, I would have had to take the general education classes rather than take the classes that are actually in my major.
Community college can give you guys so many different benefits, you can be exposed to so many new things, you can make a difference with different volunteering events you can do anything you set your mind to.
To everyone out there who is worried don't be a degree is still a degree. Whether you go for a transfer degree or a career and techinical degree, or just a certificate you are accomplishing something amazing and don't let anyone take that away from you.
