What Its Like Doing Film Shoot After Film Shoot (After Film Shoot)

Ugh. That film life, though.

Film shoots can be rough. Film shoots can be fun. Film shoots can go all night. Oh, what fun it is! And let me tell you why!

1. Sleep is not your friend

Sleep is rare. Get it while you can.

2. Have caffeinated drinks

I mean, do you want to crash at all? Because it won’t be fun…. Or pretty.

3. You're very surprised when shoots end early

It’s a blessing. Because you never know how long a shoot will take. And shoots that end early are the best.

4. You feel dead inside when you have to get up early for class the next day

The one downside of shooting on a school night is going pretty late. And having an early class the next day.

5. Stress

The stress level can get pretty high. And it won't be pretty.

6. You feel pretty damn good after a shoot

No matter how long the shoot is, it still feels good to get it done and over with.

7. Breakdown is such a relief

Finally getting all the lights out of the way. And having everything away is a great feeling. Until you have to do it all over again for the next day.

8. Feet will be sore

We’re on our feet for a good chunk of filming. And it will get tiring.

9. Breaks are short lived

Eat and then get back to filming. Such a great life style.

10. Prepping for actually being in the field

I mean, it does help us prepare for when we actually go into the field. The long days, the tiredness, the soreness.

11. Dealing with people that may irk us

There is always that chance of getting that one person in your group that no one likes. And you hope they don’t show up for any of the shoots. And so you can tell your professor they didn’t do anything. Because no. And its good practice for the field as well.

12. Always thinking on the fly

Things change. Things have to change. Your film is always evolving.

13. When you do get to sleep, it's a blessing

Literally. Take it.

14. And when you're finally done, it's such a relief

It’s done. It’s all over. I can breathe!

All in all, film shoots are fun. And they are spontaneous. But back to back (to back) film shoots can be over whelming.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
