Real question: dog, dawg, or doge?

In This Article:

There is nothing better than coming home from college, swinging open the front door, and your dog trotting from across the house and leaping into your arms. It is at that moment that I realized my dog missed me as much as I missed her. That welcome home slobber is exponentially better than every FaceTime where I ask to see the dog and pictures my parents send me when she is being a bad dog, got a haircut, or is just looking especially cute. Sadly, for most of us, college means NO DOGS. It's a tragedy really, so instead, I've followed these 6 dogs on Instagram to give me my daily dose of puppy love.

1. Petunia Tendler-Mulaney (@laviepetunia)

If you know anything about stand-up comedy, you know about John Mulaney, and if you know anything about John Mulaney, you know about his sophisticated yet pessimistically wise French bulldog puppy named Petunia. This dog is in a few of Mulaney's stand up specials and his owners have given this iconic dog his own Instagram. Thank God for the translate button because this sassy dog speaks mostly in French.

2. Loki (loki_the_wolfdog)

This dawg doesn't have famous parents, but he does have a love of the great outdoors that makes me want to drop out of school and hike the Pacific Crest Trail with my dog. Every picture is beautifully taken and will make sure your feed is filled with lots of neat-ure. The dog is basically a four legged REI mascot and I wouldn't want it any other way.

3. Normie and Bambie Jenner (@normieandbamiejenner)

Personally, these dogs aren't my style (too hairless and bouge for my taste), but I'm sure the Jenners dropped some serious money on these pups. These two dogs recently got a new human baby sister named Stomi, so Kylie has had her hands full and hasn't posted a picture in six-months. Also, Auntie Kendall is a little busy being a model, so this hip and fabulous Insta has been put on the backburner.

4. Doug (@itsdougthepug)

It's safe to say this doge is cooler and funnier than I will ever be, and you know what? I'm okay with that. There is something about pugs that puts a smile to my face, so when you put a pug in a costume, it is pure gold. Five stars for Doug!

5. Paris Hilton's Pets (@hiltonpets)

Although one dog doesn't solely occupy this Insta, @hiltonspets is a hidden treasure in the celebrity pets game. The page is everything you could dream and more: lots of pink, fluff, and glam. This Instagram takes me back to a simpler time: the early 2000s. The account is also alive and well and you should give it a follow ASAP.

6. Sprout (@brussels.sprout)

Two words: CITY DAWG! This small dawg is roaming NYC, and I'm loving it. Although Sprout has the ultimate RBF, the sick shots of this dog in Manhattan will always have a special place in my heart. BRB while I recreate every picture this dog has ever taken on my next trip into the city.

Needless to say, I'm a dog person and as much as I love these Instadogs, nothing beats coming home to my dog and having her run into my arms.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
