A Distraction From Studying For Finals: It's Story Time
Her campus

It’s that time of the year again: finals. With all of the exams, papers, projects and presentations you have to do before break, life can be really stressful. The very last thing any of us wants to do is study. We’re all looking for a distraction from our work. Well look no further. Here is a retelling of one of my craziest dreams that is sure to keep you entertained and distracted from the stress of finals.

Let’s set the scene. I was in my dorm room laying down in bed. I had just woken up and was about to get ready for the day when I went to open my door. I looked down and noticed that all my laundry was laying outside my door. I was super confused as to what it was doing out there, so I quickly grabbed it and stuffed it into my laundry basket. I picked up my phone and saw I had a text telling me to go check my lounge.

I was confused as to why I would need to go out to my lounge, but I went anyways. Once I got there I saw why I needed to go. All of my underwear was on one of the tables in the lounge. I was mortified. Turns out I had been punked by someone called the Jeanster. Basically, this person goes around and steals people’s laundry, puts it all over the place, and then takes pictures and puts them on social media.

When I picked up my phone again I noticed that this was blowing up all over social media. The Jeanster was trending and so was my laundry. I had to figure out who it was. As I was trying to get all my undergarments from the lounge, I noticed a post it note on the table. It was from the Jeanster, calling me out. I started asking around to see if anyone saw him.

A girl from my hall had run into the Jeanster. She told me that he had been asking around to see if anyone in our hall was a vegetarian. No one in the hall was, but my roommate Paige was from the South. For some reason being from the South was the equivalent of being a vegetarian so the Jeanster was targeting her, but he stole my laundry. Riddle me that?

All of a sudden I was in a huge stadium instead of my lounge. Did I question this? Of course not. There was a big stage and tons of chairs set up. A balcony was surrounding the entire stadium, and I was standing by the side in the concession line. I was in line with my two friends, Paige and Sabrina, to order fro-yo. After ordering I left to find out more information about the Jeanster.

I went up to the balcony to look around for the girl from my hall. I found her in a ballroom studying for an exam we had the week before. Did this seem bizarre to me? No. No it did not. She didn’t have any new information for me, so I went back downstairs to get my fro-yo. Unfortunately, the fro-yo machine had broken and we had to go back to the end of the line.

While waiting in line I spotted my friend Chantal. Turns out the reason that there was a huge stage in the stadium was because we were getting a concert from a 13-year-old popstar. This popstar just happened to be Chantal’s cousin. Chantal was singing and dancing to a song I’d never heard before. Upon closer examination, it turned out the song was all about how much Chantal’s cousin loves her. Before I can find out anything else like: who is the Jeanster? Or why did he steal my laundry? Or when will I get my fro-yo? I woke up.

Good luck studying! If you need any more distractions I suggest fro-yo. You can’t go wrong with fro-yo.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
