Disney Lyrics That Resonate With College Students

Who knew fairytales could be so relatable?

Disney Lyrics That Resonate With College Students

During a typical Disney jam session with my friends (no judgment), we discovered there were far too many lyrics that we could relate to. In my opinion, no one ever truly outgrows Disney. Even a group of 18 and 19-year-olds can belt out to their favorite old songs and find things they still believe to be true. To be completely honest, there are several lyrics I relate to more now than I ever could have as a kid. Here are some of the best lines from our favorite Disney films that flawlessly depict a college student's struggles!

"For a long time we've been marching off to battle. In our thundering herd, we feel a lot like cattle."

Walking to class in the morning is equally as miserable for you as it for the people walking beside you. Walking toward our impending doom of long lectures and labs never gets easier, but hey, at least we're all in this together (cue the "High School Musical" music)! Granted, our journey is a tad shorter than the one in "Mulan," it's a collective struggle nonetheless.

"He thinks he's such a lady killer."

This is pretty self-explanatory, but when dealing with the over-confident frat boy this lyric comes to mind. "Mulan" is full of men trying to showoff, as are a lot of the parties you'll end up at.

"Mother knows best, listen to your mother!"

Shout-out to the responsible "mom" of the friend group that always has to round up your squad when it's time to leave. An important lesson to take away from "Tangled," especially because our mother is not nearly as evil as Rapunzel's. Listen to your mother, ladies! They most certainly know best when it comes to what's in your squad's best interest.

"I will find my way if I can be strong, I know every mile will be worth my while."

Between stumbling around trying to find friends you were supposed to meet up with or doing the dreaded walk home after a night out, "Hercules" most definitely knew what was up when they included this song. There's just something about the trek home that requires an immense amount of effort and perseverance.

"Pumbaa, not in front of the kids!"

This lyric from "The Lion King" sums up that one friend that never fails to say something embarrassing in front of the tour group. Whether it's talking about their crazy night out or things they don't like about the school, there's some things prospective students just shouldn't hear on a tour.

"It gets a little lonely, all these empty rooms, watching the hours tick by."

Anna's reaction from "Frozen" is pretty much spot on when you're stuck at school until the last day of finals. Nothing but silence and never-ending time until you're able to get your exam over with, and the saddest part is there's no one to procrastinate with.

"I wanna be where the people are. I wanna see, wanna see them dancing."

For those nights where you just have too much work to do, but all of your friends are going out, Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" can sympathize with you. Having too much homework to go out is equivalent to having a tail, right?

"Nants ingonyama bagithi baba sithi uhm ingonyama!"

Another fabulous lyric from "The Lion King." Pretty much every single college student's reaction to getting a good grade, but instead of holding Simba up with pride, it's your exam score.

If anything can get you through college, it's a daily dose of Disney.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
