I recently had another unfortunate encounter with a mosh pit at my latest concert. Let me just say, for someone with anxiety, it's not the best time. I usually hate crowds, but I've been to enough concerts to where I've gotten used to those types of crowds
Concerts are my way to let loose and just have a ton of fun and enjoy music and live performances. That being said, there should be a limit to how much fun people can have.
Believe me, I'm all for dancing around and jumping at concerts, especially when you're in the pit. However, that joy quickly fades once people start becoming aggressive and not caring who they are jumping/pushing into.
I've been hit, elbowed, stepped on, slapped with hair, and shoved every second at times when I've been in the pit. How exactly does that make my concert experience fun? It doesn't.
But that's nothing compared to when the circle pits start. If you've never experienced a circle pit, they are basically when people make a circle and just dance around and shove each other around within it.
That's at least my understanding, I've tried to be as far away as possible from these. However, at my last concert, I was enjoying the music, ignoring the fact that I had been shoved to the left side of the stage when I had started at the center, when all of the sudden this guy comes flying out of nowhere and rams into me, falling on the floor at my feet.
I proceeded to slam into my sister, who then accidentally pushed the stranger next to us, pushing her into the wall. Not exactly my favorite moment. This guy didn't even apologize to us, he just jumped right back up and into the crowd.
Moral of the story: people need to be more aware of others around them at concerts.
You're completely free to dance and go crazy, but when you start invading other people's concert experiences when all they want is to be close to the artist and sing along to the music, that crosses a line for me.
All I ask is that people acknowledge that other people are around you, you aren't the only one there.
They could be there just to enjoy the music, and they probably don't appreciate being rubbed up against and shoved around every second. I just want people to be semi-decent human beings and respect others around them, while still having fun on their own terms.
