On Friday, November 11, Bethesda highly anticipated sequel Dishonored 2 was released. Critics love the game and generally give it a high grade. However, many PC gamers ran into interesting problems and issues on launch, forcing many of them to wait for a day one patch for PC, causing many to question, is this just normal bugs that happen when millions of people play a game, or is it a sign of things to come?
As reported on previously, Bethesda recently changed their review policy to allow only one day prior for reviewers to review the game, and many of them failed to find these bugs in the short time they were forced to review a game. Although Day one bugs are common in the industry, Dishonored 2’s bugs were both obvious and game breaking in some cases that many reviewers couldn’t properly find with the short allotted time that Bethesda gave them. Which begs the question… should Bethesda be allowed to get away with this shoddy work?
Answer, no, we as consumers shouldn’t reward Bethesda for failing to properly give reviewers time to cover their games and help them find and flesh these massive bugs…
Thankfully, bugs are fixable and can be remedied through a day one patch like many of them were … however, this situation may be evidence for future releases from Bethesda as we no longer have anyone to properly sound the alarm, for bad games on release. Buyer beware
