If you read a lot of my articles, it's obvious that music influences me a lot, including what I write and other mundane things in my everyday life. I am almost always definitely listening and seeking out new artists, but it's rare to find someone that I absolutely fall in love with, and like all their songs too. That, my friend, is a miracle in itself. Dean, the young Korean hip-hop artist, happens to be one of them.
Kwon Hyuk, or known as his stage name Dean, is currently twenty-four years old, resides in South Korea and is under the label of Joombas Co Ltd. He has only one official album yet so far, but he has many singles and collaborations with various artists which are just as talented, so it's easy for anyone to look into his discography and find something they'd like.
Not to mention that he also has songs in English, and is perfectly fluent, so don't let another language you're not familiar with scare you off, Dean caters to his fans for sure!
130 Mood: TRBL is his first and only album out. And it's simply amazing, I'm not usually one to like every song on the album. I would only like three at the most, but this album, that consists of seven songs are all masterpieces. Personal favorites on the track list, however, are 21, D (half moon), and Pour Up. These are the songs that all his fans know, and are all absolute bangers. Listening to the songs either make you feel like you're in the hottest club, or just a good song to listen while you're walking down the street. His voice is not only pleasant and easy to listen to, but he raps well too, and his tone is very clear and rich.
Aside from his solo stuff, Dean is mostly famous for his collaborations. I found him through his collaborations in fact, because one of my favorite singers mentioned wanting to sing with him as well, and I got curious and looked up some of his songs with other artists. I was impressed, he was on my Spotify in minutes, and the rest was history.
Recently, Dean has collaborated with a offonoff, another artist who is of similar genre. Except offonoff's songs are more emotional and give raw feelings, he sings in English as well for most of his album 'boy' and Dean was recently featured in the song 'GOLD' which I could not stop playing as it's both addicting and uplifting. It will definitely make you feel good if you listen, and watch the music video as well.
Dean is also famous for collaborating with Zico and Heize, who are primarily famous for their rap in South Korea, and it's absolutely amazing hearing them paired with Dean.
