Hello again, this week I'm going to show you five artists who are popular and have had success overseas such as in Europe, but when it comes to the U.S. these five artists are most likely unknown to the most of us.
The first artist I am to going to talk to you about is David Gray. Gray is from Manchester, England and has been in the music business since 1992. He is very well known all over Europe, but most citizens of the U.S. do not know who this incredibly talented man is. After a rough start, he has since achieved stardom in Europe. Gray has been in and out of the U.S. for years now, but not until recently has he really gotten any popularity or recognition. Thanks to his greatest hits collection earlier this year, Gray has received lots of success in the U.S. Radio stations in the states have begun to play some of Gray's most popular tunes such as "Please Forgive Me", "Babylon", and "Sail Away". David Gray is an exceptional artist and deserves all of the popularity he can get.
Second, Foals are an indie rock band from Oxford, England. They have been around since 2005 when they formed and continue to create music. Releasing their debut album in 2008, Foals has since released four albums with their recent, "What Went Down" being the most successful. Songs like "Mountain At My Gates", "What Went Down", and "My Number" have been a few that have helped power them to popularity in Europe as well as the fan base they currently have in the U.S. Radio stations have started to play a few of the Foals' songs, but not nearly as much as they should. The Foals have such a fantastic and whole sound that needs to be heard in the U.S. especially by indie rock fans.
Next, this band is formed in Liverpool back in 2013 and released their debut album, "Young Chasers" in 2014. Circa Waves is an indie rock band that has a surfer rock type style to them. When I first heard Circa Waves' first single, "T-Shirt Weather" I was very impressed. So much that I had to listen to their album as soon as it was released. Songs such as "T-Shirt Weather", "Stuck in My Teeth", and "Get Away" really stuck out to me, but each song on the album has a unique sound and catchy choruses so it is very easy to sing along to them. Europe begun to enjoy Circa Waves very much and I wish the U.S. would catch on because these guys are talented. I am very excited for what is to come for the Circa Waves and hope the U.S. will soon catch on with how good these guys are.
Fourth, The Struts are from Derby, Derbyshire, England and released their first album, "Everybody Wants" during the summer of 2014. These English lads blew me away when I first heard them. Their most popular song being, "Could Have Been Me" gave me chills the very first time I heard it. This rock band has exploded in Europe and is starting to gain some popularity in the U.S. "Kiss This" and "Put Your Money on Me" have helped with the success of The Struts in the past year. The Struts have received some radio play in the U.S., but still, do not receive enough attention. These guys will blow you away as soon as the song starts. I hope to see their name in the future and I hope to see the U.S. start to realize the potential these guys have.
Lastly, The Kooks are from Brighton, England and were founded back in 2004. In 2006, they released their first album titled "Inside In/Inside Out" with their hit single "Naive". The Kooks have become one of Europe's top alternative rock bands while most people in the U.S. have never even heard of The Kooks unless you are an indie enthusiast. "She Moves in Her Own Way", "Bad Habit", and "Ooh La" have been some of the songs that have created such a wide spread of popularity for The Kooks in Europe. As for the U.S., I have never heard a Kooks song played on the radio and the day I do I will definitely be fangirling over that moment. Last year, when I discovered The Kooks I ended up discovering one of my favorite bands. These fellows have the ability to change their style with each song as well as just being able to flat out play and rock out. The Kooks are insanely talented and the U.S. needs to listen to these guys because they're worth every second, I promise.
Thanks again! I hope you enjoyed this week's article and continue to read each week. Please listen to these artists, they're all worth it.
