When holidays come around, everyone always gets caught up in the hustle and bustle. Things in our life may not be going how we want, and we may have a hundred different things going on. But, why not we take a step back and take the focus off of ourselves? Easter is one of my favorite holidays because it is the reason why it celebrates the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
This time of year is always one of the busiest. Easter baskets have to be prepared, dresses have to be bought and altered, Sunday dinner needs to be planned, etc. All of these things turn our attention away from the real reason for this holiday. I've heard people say, "I'm just not in the spirit this year" or "I just don't have the time," but in reality, this holiday has nothing to do with how we feel. Easter symbolizes the death and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus came and died for our sins before we were ever born, regardless of who we would become. He knows everyday of our lives before any of them happen, so how can we say we're not in the mood to celebrate His gift to us? Without the resurrection the Christian faith has no foundation. Jesus came to this Earth to die for sinners. He conquered sin, death, and the grave FOR US. Oh what a Savior. How can we not be in awe of Him? It breaks my heart to hear people say they're not in the mood for Easter. How can we not thank Him? We owe Him everything. The verse Colossians 3:2 comes to my mind:
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Colossians 3:2 NIV
So, this week through your stresses and hassles, set your mind Jesus. Thank Him for making the ultimate sacrifice for you and giving you eternal life. No one else knows you or loves you like He does. Don't let Easter just be a holiday that comes and goes once a year, live out its message everyday.
