What is the Real difference between lA and NYC?

Many people always question which coast is the best place to be and live in, but more specifically which city is the best, Los Angeles or New York City. Well, being a native of Los Angeles and attending university in New York City, I am quite some opinions and insights on the difference and similarities between the two major cities.

Well, one thing is a fact; New York City is a lot more of a city environment than Los Angeles. Whenever people think of a city, everyone thinks of the hustle and bustle type of environment where people are rushing to get somewhere, and there is a lot of car and street noises. This perfectly describes NYC whereas LA is more of a chill, quieter place without much people on the streets because everyone mostly drives a car. Feeling cramped and overwhelmed is definitely more in NYC rather than in LA because of the surrounding environment and immense crowds of people on the streets.

This then leads to the next difference of easiness to get somewhere. In LA, without a car, you are practically hopeless. To get anywhere in LA, you need a vehicle of some sort. Public transportation is not as reliable in LA as it is in NYC. NYC, although the public transportation system can be quite crowded and gross, it is actually extremely efficient in getting you to your destination without the need of a car. Whenever I want to find a place in LA to study or just hang out with friends, I always need to be driving there because public transportation in LA is not worth the time or the difficulty. However, in NYC, I can always just hop on the subway and get to where I need within minutes without ever having to drive myself there.

I love both cities, one where I grew up in and one where I now attend university. However, after living in New York for my college years and more, I can say that New York City feels more like a city and feels more like a second home to me. I never thought that I would say NYC is better than LA, as I am a native to LA, and I am not outright saying that it is better, but I am learning and growing to like NYC a lot better even though the crowdedness of people and noises are constantly driving me crazy. NYC is definitely not an environment for everyone being that some people may enjoy a more chill and slower paced city like LA. However, in my book, NYC is one hell of a city to live in.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
