With finals week approaching, there has definitely been more sullen, worried faces. Though finals are obviously important and are worth a tremendous amount, here are Five things you should try to do to relax during this nerve-wracking time.
5. Sleep
While this is a necessity, when finals week comes around, students tend to sleep less due to worriedness, which may lead to exhaustion. This speaks to me on a personal level when I was studying so much for a final, my brain was so drained, when I actually had to take the test, my brain was so weary, I didn’t remember half of the information I memorized.
4. Go to the gym
While this may seem like an odd ball, you would be surprised how much exercising for at least a half hour can make you feel. Because it’s working off the stress, it also takes your mind off of the stuff you need to fear about. Seeing all the other people in the gym also reminds you to stay focused on the gym, and not wonder on what you have left to do.
3. Watch a movie
Sometimes after a long day of studying at the library, I just need a break. If I’m too lazy to hit the gym, I just bundle up on a couch, and divulge in a movie- preferably comedic. Laughing is commonly known for reducing stress, so don’t be afraid to take a small break and give your body what it needs.
2. Go for a walk
Despite the fact this could be similar to going to the gym, I guarantee taking a walk with a friend, or even by yourself will help calm your nerves. I suggest being technology free for these few moments just so you can savor the tine you have to yourself. Walking will definitely help relax your mind for a while, and will give you a fresh pair of eyes when you begin to hit the books again.
1. Have lunch with your BFF
Possibly the easiest, and most fun to do, is to go out with your friends and have lunch. It doesn’t have to be expensive, or long, it can be something quick and on the go. This is a predominantly my best stress reliever. Even if you don’t want to get lunch, just being in someone else’s company, outside of studying, will take your mind off of the stress at hand.
Now that you know 5 things to do to try and de-stress, I challenge you to try if not all, one! During this demanding time, it could only help to try and calm your nerves, which will unquestionably help your mind focus more in the long run.
