It seems to many of us that the Democratic Party have become their own worst enemy. Even though Trump is the kind of President that should never get reelected, the Democrats continue to trip over themselves instead of plowing full steam ahead and organizing a coalition of their best and brightest. We need a clear leader that gives the American people the confidence to elect someone with the right stuff.
Twenty plus candidates are hoping to get that nomination to run for President in the 2020 election. Each candidate brings to the party different plans, assets, and experience. But imagine if they came together and made the choice to run as a group. A "Super-Group" as it will. Starting with a president, vice, president, secretary of state, and so on down the line each candidate taking a cabinet role best suited for them by their education, experience, and platforms.
What you may not know is because of the turmoil from the 2016 convention contest between Sanders and Clinton the Democratic Party changed the process and unlike the Republican Party, the Democratic Party isn't bound by the primary results. The regular delegates vote per the majority elected. However, the super-delegates can vote for whomever they want. Yet, there is also a twist in this party, as the party chair can change the rules at any time.
So, maybe a suggestion of the following is not impossible if they would just take a moment and recognize the potential in it:
President: Joe Biden
Vice President: Kamala Harris
Secretary of State: Elizabeth Warren
Secretary of Treasury: Bernie Sanders
Secretary of Defense: Tammy Duckworth
Attorney General: Julian Castro
Secretary of the Interior: Jay Inslee
Secretary of Agriculture: John Hickenlooper
Secretary of Commerce: Seth Moulton
Secretary of Labor: Andrew Yang
Secretary of Health And Human Services: Amy Klobuchar
Secretary of Housing And Urban Development: Cory Booker
Secretary of Transportation: Beto O'Rourke
Secretary of Energy: Tim Ryan
Secretary of Education: Kirsten Gillibrand
Secretary of Veteran Affairs: Tulsi Gabbard
Secretary of Homeland Security: Pete Buttigieg
For many of these Democratic candidates, this a more of testing the water kind of effort. They are aware of their chance for the nomination at this time is not probable. However, they want to know if they have enough interested voters to come back and try again eight to twelve years from now. The experience many can earn by serving the White House in this capacity is win/win.
Is it possible to get the Democratic Party to back this kind of plan? Maybe, the overwhelming benefit is showing the party as a cohesive committee. Giving the voters a sense of organized candidates that are working for the people. Campaigning as a team, not as an individual. This is a ground-breaking proposal, but it isn't impossible, they would be truly putting country ahead of party. Besides, the current administration is lacking the experience and leadership of this kind of plan clearing shows. The republican party has been unable to put together an elite cabinet for the last three years, and they won't be able to any time soon.
However, what will probably happen to any coalition that could form would eventually fracture and fall apart due to infighting, everybody wanting something, whether it is credit, money, or a position of power. Even though we had presidents in the white house that were not about the power and prestige and were for the good of the country, those days might never return if we don't find common ground and work to stop the madness of celebrity politics.
