16 Demi Lovato Songs That Reaffirm Her Talent Instead Of Focusing On Her Personal Struggles

It's not breaking news that Demi has been and is struggling with her addictions, but regardless of her personal life struggles, or your opinion on them, her talent is irrefutable. To be fair, it took me a long time to realize the talent this woman has, let alone the skills she has honed in her years as a performer. I am glad she is being honest with herself and the world about her struggles because the idea of fame and a public image is too crazy to think about. It is this honesty that can also be heard in her voice in the following songs listed below.

Each one is unique, but they are the same in that they authentically showcase her true talent and passion in her work, and in music in general. I can't promise this is an objective compilation of songs. You can even take this as a recommendation to start really getting into Demi's music, starting with these. The order is not, particularly, of actual preference.

1. Nightingale

Okay, maybe this one is a fave, but how could it not be? Demi does an amazing job mixing a sweet message with a powerhouse voice. The combination of the two makes this song unforgettable. Will undoubtedly have it on repeat.

2. Tell Me You Love Me

This is the title track to her latest album and tour. Need I say more? This song is so unlike what you're used to hearing on the radio, it leaves an impression. Another powerful ballad that I'm living for.

3. Sober

Yes, this song is incredibly sad when you listen to it within the context of Demi's recent relapse. But, just because it's sad doesn't mean it isn't capable of being absolutely beautiful. Her voice sounds so raw and full of emotion that you feel like you're getting a closer look into Demi as a person when you listen to it.

4. Stone Cold

Yet another one that I shamelessly belted out at random intervals while at home. The power needed for this song and its notes is amazing.

5. You Don't Do It For Me Anymore

Another song, another opportunity to include high notes that might fill you with jealousy. But it is a mixture of her range, personality, and attitude that really bring this song to life.

6. Yes

The lyrics may be on the simpler side, but that just means you can focus better on Demi's actual capabilities. And the runs….all I can say is: yes.

7. Daddy Issues

Okay a bit more upbeat, but no less intense and jaw-dropping. A mixture of expected pop repetition and Demi's signature high notes is a perfect blend to keep you singing along. We might not sound as good as Demi, but she makes us want to try.

8. Skyscraper

One of the best examples of incorporating emotion into your voice, this song is the anthem we all need, for any difficult situation. Demi's voice here shares her pain while simultaneously reassuring you that it will be okay.

9. Confident

Don't mind her, Demi is just showing us what a powerhouse voice she has. Stand by to be further amazed.

10. Father

A song that will make you want to cry? Check. You have to be able to tap into a real emotion and passion for this song to come off as raw and flawless as it does.

11. Games

A little more upbeat. A little more fun. No less impressive. How can she hit all those notes without sounding like a weirdly squawking bird? Maybe magic? It must just be her. She doesn't have to worry that to can play this game.

12. Hitchhiker

This song is a bit smoother, but it still incorporates amazingly well-controlled singing techniques that make the song a great balance of everything you could want.

13. Kingdom Come

Another great blend of singing techniques, sensing a trend here? She is able to discern how much power to use in her songs so well that we are always intrigued.

14. Lionheart

This song just building from a light and beautiful intro to a fuller and passionate chorus. You can feel the shift and sense her personal connection to the song. Everything sounds full and strong, even when softly sung.

15. Only Forever

The runs. The harmonizing. The pure talent mixed with her technical skill.

16. Lonely

The power and gruff of her voice. Damn. She makes runs that are unexpected but just work. Honest and raw.

Demi's songs just make for an honest collection that can be appreciated for more than their first impression, but for their musical integrity and raw passion. You don't even have to like what she is singing about to love how she sings it. She is a true artist who never claims to be perfect in her actions or abilities. Demi and her voice are a refreshing addition to the overall world and the world of music.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
