Demi Lovato Is Undeserving Of All The Attention Her Overdose Has Received

News recently came out about Demi Lovato and her drug overdose. While it has been getting a lot of national attention, I ask myself, Why? When I go onto Twitter, why is my feed filled with people praying for fucking Demi Lovato? You mean to tell me, a person you have never met, who is rich beyond her dreams, needs sympathy from the world because she fucked up? I'm sorry but absolutely not.

There are much bigger stories that need national attention other than Demi fucking Lovato.

Let's start by uncovering why people care so much. You see all these people posting sappy posts about how sad it is that she relapsed on drugs and alcohol. While drug addiction can be a serious topic, this is being blown way out of proportion. It's practically national news that Demi is in the hospital. I think that people are doing this for their own self-image. They want to be seen by others as caring for all souls, and that includes Demi. But drug addiction is a national problem. There are millions of Americans who overdose and can't escape the grasp of drugs. I bet if you drive down a busy street, you'll find a homeless person addicted to smack somewhere around there. It's everywhere yet nobody cares about them. They only care about celebrities.

Not only is the national attention not warranted for her, but she also doesn't even want the attention. Her family told news outlets that Demi wanted her information to remain private because she is obviously going through a rough patch. She has enough on her plate now, and having to deal with the entire world talking about her is a lot. I obviously feel bad for her because she is addicted to drugs, but all this attention is unneeded.

Then we can talk about drug addiction as a whole. Some people think that it's a disease, and we should be the most supportive as possible. While I can agree on the supportive part, I can't agree with feeling bad for drug addicts, like they aren't at fault. It is a deep hole when you start, but why must we ignore the fact that you chose to start drugs? Let's look at Demi. While we don't know the specific reason why she got into drugs, we can look at her career and speculate. She was a very famous Disney channel star, making a lot of money. She was also very young when she started using drugs. I just don't feel bad for someone who gets to do something they love while making a lot of money at a young age. They can brag to their friends and have a good time. Fame probably got her hooked to drugs, and it spiraled out of control.

Her situation is not one to feel bad for compared to most drug addicts.

Most drug addicts started because they had a poor home life. They are the ones that need national attention, not Demi. Instead of going out and tweeting about Demi Lovato, go to your local druggie and have a conversation, if you truly cared that much for drug addicts. Stop doing it as a publicity stunt, because frankly, it's sad.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
