I peaked in 2007. With my brightly colored sweatshirts from American Apparel and my frequent buyer card from Hot Topic, I was the flyest girl at my single-sex catholic school. Here are a few of my favorite songs from the days when I thought my life was difficult when really I just had really bad hair and ate way too much frozen yogurt.
10. Dakota by A Rocket to the Moon
My friends and I obsessed over this band's carrot top lead singer for hours at a time.
9. Color by The Maine
"We're just trying to find some color in a black and white world." The perfect lyric for a 14-year-old who was feeling jaded.
8. Natives by Blink-182
A great song by the poster boys for teen angst.
7. My Beautiful Rescue by This Providence
This singer's voice eternally sounds like he just had his dog put down and had just stopped crying after 3 days of grief.
6. Her Words Destroyed My Planet by Motion City Soundtrack
Specifically remember playing this in my car after I got uninvited to prom for the second time.
5. Coffeeshop Soundtrack by All Time Low
I spent about four hours trying to learn the four chords that this song has on guitar.
4. Camisado by Panic! At The Disco
Brendon Urie's top hats and eyeliner-caked eyes were iconic.
3. Everything's Magic by Angels and Airwaves
When a poster boy of angst quit his band, the angst multiplied.
2. Kiss My Sass by Cobra Starship
This band broke up last week and a part of me died. As a former Cobra Crew member, I attended 5 concerts and paid for a few meet and greets. Gabe Saporta might as well have been the second coming of Jesus.
1. Hum Hallelujah by Fall Out Boy
The quintessential "emo" song of the 2000's, "Hum Hallelujah"'s lyrics would be the perfect background to a poorly made romantic teen comedy.
