A Definitive Ranking Of Every Harry Potter Movie

This list was hard to write considering all of these movies have a special place in my heart.

A Definitive Ranking Of Every Harry Potter Movie

I love Harry Potter. I could watch the movies all day every day. I’ve had this goal for some time now, to watch all eight movies in one sitting. So thank you, J.K. Rowling, for creating such beautiful series that will live on forever.

The movies (and books, but I'm focusing on movies) are just so great that I thought to myself, why not make a list of all of the movies ranked from my favorite to my not favorite, but still love. Just a disclaimer, this list is based solely off of the movies, not the books.

1. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"

So this is #1 because this is the movie where stuff. Goes. Down. The Death Eaters attack at the Quidditch World Cup, someone puts Harry’s name in the Goblet of Fire *gasp*, Harry almost gets killed by a dragon, and then by Merpeople, and dang Harry pretty much almost dies throughout the whole movie. BUT THEN, during the third task at the Triwizard Tournament Harry and Cedric finally find the Triwizard Cup in the maze, but it's actually a Portkey *double gasp*. They are taken to a cemetery where Lord Voldemort is waiting for him, in the (baby) flesh along with Wormtail. Long story short, the Death Eaters arrive, Cedric is killed (RIP), Harry is almost killed, but he manages to get back to the cup and return back to Hogwarts with Cedric’s dead body. Like I said. Stuff. Goes. Down. In this movie.

2. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1"

I must say, that the only reason this movie is #2 on my list, is because the ending is so bomb to me. I honestly can't form a coherent sentence of why I like the ending so much, I just do. Like Voldemolt finally finds Dumbledore's grave, and he opens and it takes the Elder Wand. He then shoots a bolt into the air lighting up the entire sky, and then the movie just ends. The setting, the visuals, the music, the eerieness of Voldemolt standing over Dumbledore's dead body, it was the perfect ending and I loved it. Something else I have to say about this movie though is that Dobby also died, and that is just too sad for my life. At least he died a free elf. Let's all just take a moment of silence for Dobby.

3. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2"

So much happened in this movie, it was pretty lit. But at the same tine, whenever I get to it, I always get a little sad because I know it's the very last movie and the series is almost over. *cries* It's like all of the final pieces start coming together, and there are some awesome battle scenes and everything was just pretty fast paced and intense for the whole time.

4. "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone"

This is the movie where it all begins. Where, dare I say, the magic happens. I am confident in my abilities of being able to quote a good 80% of this movie. Honestly. There are so many memorable moments like: meeting Hagrid for the first time, the first train ride to Hogwarts, the immediate friendship bond between Harry and Ron, Hermoine’s hair, the Sorting Hat, “It’s LevisOa is LeviosAR,” every time Hagrid says, “I shouldn’t have said that,” the intense wizards chess match, Voldemort being on the back of Professor Quirell’s head, there’s just so much.

5."Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"

Ah yes, the movie where I’m pretty sure everyone wanted to smack Dolores Umbridge. The movie where everyone denied that He-who-must-not-be-named was back – which was quite annoying, let me tell you. Because why would Harry even lie about something like that? How did Cedric die then, hmmm? Trifling. There was also the whole “Dumbledore’s Army” organization, that was a pretty important part. One of my favorite parts although has to be Professor McGonagall standing up to Umbridge and putting her in her place. I also love when Harry and Hermione lead Umbridge to the Forbidden Forest where she ends up being dragged away by centaurs. But at the end, my heart breaks when Bellatrix kills Sirius Black aka her cousin aka Harry’s godfather. Can we take a moment to appreciate that right before Bellatrix kills Sirius, while they’re fighting, Sirius calls Harry “James.” That part just hits me in the feels.

6. "Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince"

So this movie Draco is kind of trying to be Death Eater like his father which he obviously doesn’t want to do. Voldemort gave Draco this task of killing Dumbledore and he’s trying to act all cool and hard but you can see in his eyes that he’s just a scared boy. I get it, though, Voldemort is scary and not someone whose bad side I would want to be on. We finally find out what Professor Slughorn told Tom Riddle (Voldemort) all those years ago which is what a Horcrux is. It’s pretty dark magic, I must say. Essentially Voldemort split his soul into seven pieces and hid it into objects making it next to impossible to kill him because almost no one knows what these objects are. And upon finding them you would have to know how to destroy the objects so he pretty much, therefore, lives forever…. Theoretically of course. In this movie, Dumbledore also dies and it's pretty sad, but at that same time, it had to happen. We all think Snape is this evil bad guy for “betraying” Dumbledore and killing him, but in reality, it was all part of Dumbledore’s plan. We also find out that Snape is actually the half-blood prince, *gasp.*

7. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"

The reason why this movie (that I do love like all of the others) is so low on my list is because I feel like it’s 284850 hours long. That’s an exaggeration of course, but seriously. The whole plot happens, but then Hermione has to turn back time and like half the movie happens again. What I do love about this movie though is the Hippogriff, Buckbeak. He’s just so cute, and I want to pet him and ride on him. And also, you can’t forget when Hermione punches Malfoy in the face. Brilliant. We’re also introduced to the Marauder’s Map in this movie, giving us the forever quotable, I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

8. "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"

We have made it to the last movie on my list, "The Chamber of Secrets." Compared to the other movies, I’m not going to say it’s dull, it’s just that the other ones have more exciting parts. And honestly, that spider scene gets me every time. Can you imagine if this movie had come out in today’s day and age in 3D? *shudders* I wouldn’t be able to handle it. I would probably have the leave the theater. So many spiders. So many legs. I am totally Ron in this situation, “Why couldn’t it be follow the butterflies?”

And there you have it! My rankings of all eight Harry Potter movies. Do you agree with me? Disagree with me? Let me know! In the meantime, writing this list made me wanted to watch all of the movies again, so I’ll be doing that for the next 19 hours and 33 minutes. Shout out again to J.K. Rowling!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
