My Definitive Ranking Of Disney Animated Movies

Animated Disney movies are staples of my childhood. There are tons of Disney movies I could probably recite to you because I have watched them so many times. Here is my definitive ranking of the top ten animated Disney movies. *DISCLAIMER: These are MY top ten. There are dozens of other movies that are awesome and deserve a shout out, but this is just my personal opinion.

10. Jungle Book

This movie follows Mowgli and Baloo, unlikely friends who navigate through the dangers of the jungle together. To me, this movie holds a lot of nostalgia. It is my grandma's favorite Disney movie and one I remember watching many times at her house, on her pull out couch. As an added bonus, "Bare Necessities" is such a catchy song.

9. Finding Nemo

I feel like everybody knows and loves this Disney movie. Marlin and Dory set out to rescue Marlin's son Nemo and there are so many memorable scenes from this movie -- including one of my favorites with the seagulls and Dory speaking whale.

8. Cinderella

One of the true Disney Classics and one of my favorites, although I do have some issues with the plot. How did she not notice her shoe fell off? Does nobody else in the entire kingdom have the same shoe size as Cinderella? These things keep me up at night.

7. Aristocats

People are sometimes surprised when I say that this is one of my top ten. Aristocats follows the tale of a kitten family, who's owner wills her entire estate to. The family includes three cute, troublemaking kittens including my favorites, Marie. The music in this movie is also highly underrated, there are tons of great songs in this movie.

6. Big Hero 6

This made my top ten because of Baymax, the inflatable super hero of the movie. He is both adorable and the comic relief. On top of that, the movie is full of heart and made me cry in certain spots. I truly don't think this movie gets enough recognition in the Disney Animation collection.

5. Frozen

You had to know this was coming, right? The entire nation fell in love with Frozen, and for good reasons too. I love the sister storyline, the twist of (spoiler alert!) Hans being the bad guy and Olaf, the world's most adorable and loving snowman. It's hard not to like this movie.

4. Tangled

This is Disney's take on the classic story of Rapunzel, and honestly they made it ten times better. There are so many moments and characters in Tangled that make the movie a classic -- Flynn Ryder and his "smolder", Maximus, the singing villains from the Snuggly Ducky saloon -- I could go on.

3. Emperor's New Groove

This movie is just pure fun. This isn't a princess finding her prince, this isn't a noble, awesome journey -- this is the story of a selfish emperor being turned into a llama by his jealous administrator and the journey it takes to change him back to a human. Kronk makes the entire movie and there's too many funny scenes for me to pick a favorite.

2. 101 Dalmatians

I was obsessed with this movie when I was younger, and the obsession carried over to my adulthood. All the puppies have their own personalities, and Cruella de Ville is quite possibly the best, if not most fashionable, villain around because it is so easy to hate her. Plus, the song named after her is extremely catchy and infectious.

1. Beauty and the Beast

This is by far my favorite Disney movie to date, and I really don't think anything will top it. Belle and the Beast are such awesome characters to get behind and the entire enchanted castle just makes the whole thing fun. "Be Our Guest" might be the best scene is Disney Animation history, but then again, maybe I'm biased.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
