Moscow, Idaho
The home of University of Idaho and all things striving to be like Portland; which I am more than okay with. Along with the amazing assortment of local shops, this town knows how to serve up some home-brewed coffee; and how to make us all want to stay a while once we walk through the door.
1. Bucers Coffee House Pub
I’ve recently been introduced to Bucers, and I am completely in love. My coffee connoisseur friend constantly boasted about it and I swore that I would eventually make my way there, and I am beyond happy that I did so. From the wall sized bookshelf that meets the ceiling, to the massive family dining styled table in the middle of the restaurant, this place truly feels like home. They hand make from scratch all of their pastries and baked goods; they also have their own personal Bucer’s blend of coffee. Now, to the Pub aspect of this establishment: if you’re looking to transition your fine day of sipping on a cappuccino while reading one of the classic books you snagged of the shelf, to a quaint night listening to some live music while kicking back some local draught beers or fine wine, Bucers makes that a possibility for you. Unique and hard to top. That’s Bucers.
2. One World Cafe
Ahh One World. Would Moscow even be Moscow if it weren’t for this magical place? An amazing thing about One World is that since 2005, they have been relying on a local coffee grower to provide them their product, which provides an enormous amount of aid for the local economy. Besides the wonderful coffee and food, the ambiance in this place is unbeatable. Whether you are seeking a quaint place to study, hold a meeting, talk with friends, or watch a live show put on by local musicians, this is THE place to be.
3. Café Artista
An artistic café; holds true to its translation. Quirky and homey. Stepping into this coffeehouse is like stepping into an exhibit. From paintings to custom-made furnishings, they display a variety of work done by local artists. The shop is decorated seasonally, which gives off an incredibly festive vibe that radiates to people simply passing by on the street. This is a truly inspiring location to place oneself; in hopes of awakening their creative senses or to simply help them get through their 10-page paper due in five hours. Along with the creative atmosphere, they serve a variety of delicious espresso options as well as delicious baked goods.
If you live in Moscow, or ever plan on visiting, make sure to put all of these shops on your to-do list. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.
