If you're like me, you love to put others before yourself. You're the first one a friend reaches out to when they're going through a hard time, you'll go out of your way for others, and you sometimes find yourself trying to please everyone. Ask yourself this, what have I done for ME lately?
I've been asking myself that question a lot lately. What have I done for me to better myself, make myself happy, and to put myself on the right track to a bright future? That's when I decided it was time to take this year to focus on me. Focus on my music, my academics, my health, and even my spiritual wellness. For too long I've been neglecting myself and what I want to do. I've been focusing my attention on things that simply did/do not matter anymore. Whether that be situations that have happened in my life or people I have lost. I tended to focus on the negative in my life and I dwelled in it. I basically started to make my life worse than what it was. Yes, things happened that were painful to me, but I can't control that. The only thing I can control is how I handle what life throws my way.
So, what are you going to do about this year? Are you going to treat it like the past few and just continue to neglect yourself? Everyone always says how they want the "New Year, New Me". Okay, well you don't even need to do that. Why can't it be "New Year, Better Me"? So go for it! Lose that twenty pounds, go bungee jumping, travel Europe, eat maybe too many slices of pie, finish a whole show on Netflix in a week if that's what it takes to make yourself happy. Worry less about what others think and more about what you think about yourself because at the end of the day, the only person you truly have is you. Become the person that you would want you're future son or daughter to be. Get rid of the negativity and only spread positive vibes. Try and make 2017 the best year you can. It's not going to be rainbows and butterflies all year long, but try your best to make the most out of every situation that in placed in your life.
