Moving into a new place can be challenging. With all the work that needs to be done and all the little bits and pieces that need to be bought, it can be a little overwhelming. I just moved into my new apartment roughly a month ago and I'm just now starting to feel like we're done putting everything together. It was a long process, but now that it has concluded I feel I have learned a few tips and tricks on how to decorate a new space without spending a fortune.

I think the best, and most important thing, is also the most obvious: bring what you already have. Whether it's the old couch laying in your grandma's basement or an old painting you've had in your bedroom since before you can remember, it's probably more useful than you think. The couch may need a new cover, and the painting might need a different frame, but I guarantee, they will be much cheaper than being bought brand new.

Once you have gathered all that you can find lying around, it's time to begin your home decor shopping. This definitely does not have to be as expensive as you think it might be. My favorite inexpensive decorations are picture frames. Getting an assortment of picture frames is an easy cost-effective way to make your new space feel more like a home. At places like Goodwill or any dollar store, picture frames only cost about $1 or $2. This means you can buy a substantial amount without spending a fortune.

If you think your place is looking a little bland, try incorporating some greenery. As long as you take care of them, plants are an easy way to make your house look more like a home. Not only can the plants be decorative pieces themselves, but you can also buy fun vases or paint the flower pots if you're feeling especially creative.

Throw pillows are also an easy way to add color to your living space. Unfortunately, a decent throw pillow can sometimes cost as much as $30. Luckily, you can buy pillow covers at much cheaper rates. If you have old pillows lying around, you can go ahead and use these to fill the covers. If not, you can buy pillow stuffing at just about any super market without spending too much money.

More often than not, there's a cheaper way to do things that you just haven't thought of yet. Whether that means doing some DIY decorating or checking out your local flea market, there is always a more cost effective option when it comes to styling your new space. Just remember to be creative, and have fun with it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
