Death
Formless, faceless,
I saunter the world.
Swift and silent, I travel.
With no joy, nor grief.
No emotion,
No passion,
No pride nor greed.
Heartless. Hollow.
Oblivious to those who weep
and cower…
Do they not see?
All I seek is their soul.
For life within them has dried
and seeped out for me.
For me to consume.
For me to keep my oath to Nature.
No mortal shall be granted life
beyond his fill.
Kings, peasants, cowards, heroes all alike
shall live and wither, under my will.
O all ye perished, where shall I take thee?
Ascend skywards,
through misty mountains, clouds, stars
to the gleaming gates of Paradise?
Or shall I doom thee
into the fiery pits of Inferno
where the beast resides?
Shall ye suffer eternally, shall ye dwell in peace?
Shall ye meet God, or shall ye simply cease to exist?
These secrets, ye may see
after I come and claim thee.
I am the water, to fire.
I am the desert, to water.
I am the shadow of day.
I am the dawn of night.
I am hollow.
I am ageless.
I am immutable.
I am eternal.
I am…Death.
