Okay, relax guys, I am not saying that Carl's death was good, but hear me out. I think that Carl's death will help "The Walking Dead" in the long run. Carl is a huge character in the TV series and comic book and he was for a time, considered to take the lead role once Rick died. So, Carl's death kind of threw a monkey wrench into the whole thing.
Carl's death was definitely a devastating event, but we have to look at the bright side here. One bright side is it opens up the window to other characters growing. As of Episode 10 "The Lost and The Plunderers", we have already seen Enid take on a bigger role then she has in the past, which is something I'm excited to see. "The Walking Dead" has so many characters that I would love to see in bigger roles, such as Enid and Jadis. These are two severely underused characters that deserve more screen time. Jadis is a strange woman who led a community of equals as strange people who live in a dump. We later find out that the whole talking strange thing was all an act, similar to Ezekiel's "King" act. Enid is an orphan who I think can be really interesting. Especially, once she finds out Carl died. I think that this will propel her character forward.
Another big change that could happen, will be Negan's storyline with Carl. With Carl gone, there is not really a reason to keep Negan around. But who knows, there is a chance that Carl's relationship with Negan will go to another character such as Daryl or maybe if they do the time jump after the war like in the comics. Negan will be like the cool uncle to Judith that we saw in Carl's dream for the future. Whatever happens with Negan, I will most likely be satisfied. I just hope they don't kill him off honestly. He's a character I really like since his backstory is so tragic. Carl did ask his father and Negan to stop fighting in his letters that he wrote just before his death. So, who knows what will happen. Also, not having Carl will also affect the upcoming "Whisperer War" arc but I think the writers will figure out how to give Carl's comic book story to another character. "The Walking Dead" Season 8 is on AMC every Sunday at 9 P.M.
