"The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it" -Hubert H. Humphrey

Dear friend,

I would just like to start by saying thank you. Thank you for being such an important part of my life. Despite how long it's been since I've seen or spoken to you, I want you to know that I think about you every day. You have impacted my life and helped change me for the better. I know that I am hard to get to know. I know that I push buttons you didn't even know you had. I know that sometimes you probably just want to punch me in the face. But I also know, that I'd be nothing without a friend like you.

As I'm growing older and entering adulthood, I often think about everything and everyone that has helped mold me into the woman I am and continue to become. I think about the children on the playground that used to play tag with me, the friends from middle school that I swore I wouldn't be able to survive high school without, the friendships in high school that ended about as soon as they started, and the friends that I have now. I am a firm believer that people enter your life for a reason. Each person you come across is a piece to the ever growing puzzle that is one's life.

As children we learn how easy it is to make friends. As adults, we learn how easy it is to lose them. I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for the mistakes I've made, the ones I continue to make, and the ones I'll undoubtedly make. For those in my past, I am sorry if I am the reason we are no longer in each other's lives. For those in my present, I respect our friendship more than anything else and I am sorry if I sometimes don't show it. For those in my future, I am sorry you have to bear with me.

Although I speak constantly in what seems like a neverending stream of sarcasm, cheesy pickup lines, and song lyrics, I am a person of few words. It's hard for me to express how I feel in words. Please understand that it doesn't mean that you don't mean the world to me. It just means I express it in ways that you might not even acknowledge. I express my love for you in the way I smile when I see you. I express my love by buying you food or making you cookies. I express it by showing you my favorite songs. I express my complete adoration for the person you are by giving you a piece of myself that you will have forever.

You, my friend, have made my life worth living in times when I didn't want to.

Love always,

Skylin

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
