Dear You,

Your "Change" May Be Past Due

8
Dear You,

If you are experiencing any hardship, heartbreak, or just a rocky season, this is for YOU! As someone who’s been unemployed for three months and have been experiencing a SERIOUS financial hardship, I understand the hopelessness you may be feeling. Yet, I am here to shine a light on something you may not even realize. I can hit you with every scripture and tell you that God is going to turn this around for your good, but I am not going to do that today. Today I am going to either enlighten or remind you of the power you possess through Christ to change every situation.

Now, when I say change every situation, I really mean YOU change in every situation! We often fail to realize that it is not the situation that needs to change. It's US that need to embrace the opportunity for growth within the situation. So, with that being said, it is time to DECIDE how you are going to live! Not just this season, but also every other season that comes to shake your life.

Some may disagree with me, but hopelessness, giving up, and despair is a choice. The spirit of all these emotions will come into our presence during difficult seasons, but it is up to you whether they stay and fester. Or you can dismiss them and choose joy, peace and the FAITHFUL promises of God instead.

Every morning we have a new start and a choice to make. Are you going to love this day that was made for you with intention and purpose; or disregard it with a spirit of lack and fear? The words we choose to speak over our lives reveal who actually has the authority during hard times. Is it you or your situations? When God wanted to create something he spoke it into existence, he used words. Now, being that we possess the same spirit that resurrected Christ from the dead, we have that same AUTHORITY to speak over our lives!

It is time to declare and decree your victory! Stop preparing solely for the end, but get ready for your blessing. It is time to choose bravery every day for the rest of your life. Let go of the expectations and finally handle every moment with care and not a disappointment. It is time to take back control from the hands of the enemy and encourage yourself to be the best version of YOU! Who you were yesterday is completely gone, it doesn’t matter what anyone has to say about who you were, that version of you is gone. It doesn’t matter what the world thinks of you. It is gone. You are free, and today, this day is waiting for you to bloom.

In closing, I want to share something Holy Spirit shared with me earlier today. I was talking to him about a family member of mine and during this conversation; I said “I love her to pieces”. Holy Spirit corrected me and said, “Love her in pieces”. This conviction reminded me how God loves us through our mess and nothing can separate us from his everlasting love. He showed me that this is how we should love others but also how we should love ourselves. No matter how many pieces you may be in right now, never lose love for yourself. We often can recite 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 as the example of loving others, but we should use those same scriptures to love ourselves as well. God is bringing those pieces together to finish your puzzle, I promise.

As Heather Lindsey would say,

“God loves you like crazy”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
