Dear Pepe’s Taco Villa,
I’ll just be frank here, you are not helping my taco addiction. Every. Single. Tuesday. You simply taunt me and it isn’t fair. I don’t truly think you understand the severity I am trying to stress -- tacos are considered a food group on the pyramid in my world.
That being said, I have developed an affinity toward your tacos in particular. But let’s kick it back to where it all started and I discovered your little hole-in-the-wall taco shop.
Well you see, my father has this superpower and great taste in food. Luckily, we share the same obsession for a quality taco. With places as far as San Antonio, Texas to a local gas station down the street, making a pit stop to eat tacos is expected. Diving into every little Ma & Pop shop across the local Phoenix valley, he stumbled upon your hidden gem. Near the car dealerships, it became a tradition for us to go to your taco villa every time we took my car in. We leave with our bellies bulging, top jean button popping, and our smiles brimming.
Yet, this was only the beginning. . .
Conveniently located next to GCU, I had an excuse to take the short trip down the street for some tasty tacos. Every Tuesday before classes started, I would leave early taking a little detour for some tacos.
To be completely honest, I have no issue with you supporting my taco addiction. Basically, I am confessing my love in this letter to you. Here is why:
It isn’t simply the tacos, it is the overall experience. It feels like I am at home; the people are beyond genuine. Sadly enough, I am confident you all recognize me because of my frequent visits on Tuesdays. So friendly, you even know my order without me even saying anything. Redefining the idea of a Ma & Pop restaurant, you’ve made me in a sense feel like family.
People truly underestimate your restaurant-- you won’t find a free booth on Taco Tuesday.
Mostly, I obsess over the chips, salsa, tacos, etc. that tastes like they came straight from your abuela’s kitchen. Welcomed with a bowl of chips and two tubes of salsa, the feast ensues. First of all, having your salsa in ‘squritable’ bottles is absolutely genius -- easily being able to squeeze my heart’s content of salsa!! Ugh, and the salsa is homemade – do you know how tempted I am to take one home with me? What is your secret?!
Then, I take advantage of your Taco Tuesday deal -- $1 tacos. Seriously they’re only a $1, this is how you winner over the heart of a broke college student. However, the price doesn’t do the quality justice because let me tell you these don’t have that questionable $1 Filiberto’s taco taste. Deep fried, either shredded or ground beef, smothered in sprinkle cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, your tacos are phenomenal to say the least. Being a creature of habit, classic way to go is the ground beef -- I know, people will judge me for not going with the shredded, but hey ground beef tacos for life!
Oh Lordy, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Anyways, back on track, your tacos are the bomb.com, the bee’s knees, etc. I mean, if you ever want to trade recipes, count me in.
Quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of GCU, Pepe’s Taco Villa is my go-to taco shop. You have my loyalty and I promise, with Taco Tuesday’s still in effect you’ll see me. Thank you for feeding into my taco addiction!
Your’s truly,
The Ultimate Taco Fanatic
