What if I told you

that you've caused my mind to spark.

But who can say you would've listened?

You were alone in the dark.

What if I told you

that someday it'll get better?

But that day won't come for you

because you'll never read this letter.

What if I told you

that I fear I'm also in the jar?

The others, they're not like us

We never get too far.

Dear Sylvia,

dear poet

dear woman I inspire,

Your words ignite a spark in me

and that spark is now a fire.

You cried and you wrote

but you never saw the sun.

So for you, I'll keep on writing

until my days are done.
