You're doing it wrong.

I can’t explain to you, the love that I have for this planet.

I know you don’t see it, I know you think I’m crazy, but what I’m about to tell you may change your life.

There is more to this world than settling in a dead-end mindset.

There is more beyond the walls of comfort that you have created for yourself.

You can move beyond your boundaries and break free into a world that you've never seen before; the world that you long to see.

You envision going to far off places and pin destinations on your dream board, yet never leave. You watch from far away, wishing you were somewhere else. You settle for the norm, telling yourself that chasing your dreams is only for those who wish to fail.

You tell yourself “one day” and “eventually” but you know that these words only lead to “I should have” and “it’s too late”.

You're already almost too late.

Your mind is settling, but your heart is yearning- and yet, you still remain behind the comfort of the world you have created for yourself.

What are you hiding from?

You blame money, you blame time, you blame anything that comes to mind, but you never accept that you are the only thing keeping you from being where you want to be.

Your life is keeping you from living.

Your dreams are keeping you from doing.

You have been taught that dreams are just dreams and nothing more than that; mere fantasies meant to entertain the wandering mind.

But these dreams, these exact dreams, are the fuel to the fire of a life with deeper meaning and deeper connection.

You hide in a place of safety; the comfort of your Instagram feed and Twitter reel, knowing that adventuring requires risk. Risk is bad, therefore why chance it?

Envy spurs from every post of every peak conquered, and you crave the adrenaline of foreign air, yet never make a plan, because plans require time, and there is no time.

However, there's hope for you.

You're closer than you think, but you need to commit. Those dreams can be real, but here's the deal:

All it takes is for you to change your mindset.

It's time to turn Wanderlust into WANDERING.

Stop saying "no time", and start saying "no time like the present".

The longer you say that you have no time, the faster your life will slip between your fingers.

There is no time like the present.

Turn those dream boards into shopping lists. Prioritize. Minimalize. Simplify. It is possible.

Make your plan, do the research, and see your life unfold.

See the brightness ahead of you, the dead-end turn into infinite possibilities.

So that you can see a deeper love,

That expands far beyond the surface level life that you've grown accustomed to.

Free yourself.

Free your mind.

To the adventurers, the wanderers, the drifters, and the doers,

To the people who realize that there is far more to life than situating yourself in a dead-end mindset,

you are the light to the world.

You are the reason that our parks are kept beautiful and our mountains are loved.

With every peak you climb and every country you explore, you continue to change the world and expand your mind beyond that of the day-to-day drifters.

You are heroes of nature.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
