Dear 2013 Me,
You have just graduated high school. Life is going pretty well at this point. Everything is good.
You have just started a new job, and soon you will be starting classes at community college. You walked across that stage during graduation like you owned the world.
As you start your new journey through college, here are some things you should know.
It's okay to be nervous.
Starting a new school, in general, is nerve-wracking. But starting at a community college is a whole new level.
For me, it helped knowing some friends that were going to the same college. But for some people, they go to a new school not knowing anyone, and that can be quite scary.
However, that is okay.
If starting college wasn't hard enough, the universe threw you another curveball.
In your first week of classes, you experienced one of the hardest losses someone can experience.
It's okay to be sad about that. But don't let that keep you down for too long.
It's okay to fail.
This is something I had to learn the hard way. You are not going to be perfect at everything you do in life. If you do fail, do not let that bring you down.
Take that failure as a reason to do better. One bad grade will not result in the end of your college career as you know it. What it will do is make you realize what you need to do to keep that from happening again.
As the saying goes, you win some and you lose some.
Needless to say, no matter how scared you are or how hard you fall, everything will be okay.
Always remember that.
Love,
2018 You
