Dear College, Thank You.

Dear College,

Thank you for everything you have done for me. Reflecting on the person I am today to the person I was August 15, 2013 is hysterical. In all honesty you have changed me, changed me to start becoming the person I have always wanted to be. I always knew I would make friends who would be there for me, but little did I know I would make life long friendships with people who I feel I have known for a lifetime, instead of just a few years. While on this topic thank you for forcing me to live with someone. I always have had my sisters, who have taught me countless of lessons, but I never had to live in a the same tiny room as them. Instead I got that in college and I am proud to say the I hit the jackpot. I heard all of the horror stories about it, but from the moment we got the email from our soccer coach saying we were roommates, well we just clicked. They always say don't go to college living with your best friend because you will hate each other, but they never said live with a random person and become best friends. This happened because of you college. You taught me to go in with an open mind and to just be myself not be the person I want people to think I am.

Thank you for giving me some of the best mentors I could ask for and learning how to speak and respect them. It all began with soccer, I have had incredible coaches and can't thank them enough, but it was my college coach's that helped me through it all. They not only pushed me on the field, but pushed me even harder academically. The care they gave to each athlete was astonishing and taught me how to value the people who are under you. Thank you for giving me my professors. Granted you don't get along with everyone, I have had some of the best mentors come out of my professors. The way they pushed me to go out in the real world has been a blessing. To go get internships I have gotten and do more work outside of the classroom. For that I will be forever grateful and will miss seeing some of them everyday.

Thank you for the friendships. I've touched on one, but I can think of tons. The friendships I have made are the best I could ask for, but to continue on that you have given me the realization of who my lifelong friends are from elementary school to high school. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends. Whether it is the other five girls who live in my house, the friends I have made through playing soccer or lacrosse or the friends I have made through my majors and classes I will be forever grateful for. They have helped me develop professionally and as a person and it has been a transition I will never forget.

Thank you for helping me realizing how important my family is. Their support and love is how I made it through. You can choose your friends, but you are given your family. I was give the most supportive, honest and loving family that I would drop anything for and choose over anything else 24/7.

Most importantly thank you for all of the memories college. Whether it was something that happened in the classroom or outside of the classroom these are memories that will last a lifetime and I will never forget. College you have helped me develop and start to become the person I want to be. Thank you for the memories and the best years of my life thus far. I will take with somethings, but never forget the lessons I have learned. Thank you for everything college, I will miss you greatly, but it is time for a new chapter in my life.

With love,

A College Senior

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
