A teacher once told me, “Everything will work out, even if you have to make it happen.”
I have thought about that quote a lot lately because I, like many other college students finishing off the year, have felt tired of doing assignments, lately. However, I keep reminding myself that after a year of constantly being on the grind, we are in the home stretch to summer. As exciting as it sounds, we still have classes to finish, finals to take and meetings to attend.
Now is the time that you may be feeling unmotivated to finish off strong because you are so tired of working hard. Being a college student, as fun as it is, can be so tiring. You may be tired and lose the encouragement that you had at the beginning of the year. What happened to being so excited for classes and the positive, optimistic feeling that everyone had during syllabus week before homework was assigned?
Let’s get motivated to have the desire to finish off the year strong because it is worth it!
You can do it. Staying interested is key. Think of a driving factor that can give you the push to excel through these last weeks of school. Perhaps it is the fact that you get to go home and see your pet that you miss dearly, or boarding a plane to go on vacation.
Perhaps it’s the little things, like having time to go shopping for summer clothes, spending time with hometown friends that you never get to see while away at school or even binging on a television show in bed after waking up from a long sleep.
Each has their own driving factor to make them succeed in the end of the school year, but make it count. My advice is to make a list of the goals that you have and want to complete by the end of the semester. Tape them to your mirror or place them in your agenda book so that every time you look at yourself in the mirror or schedule an event in your calendar, you are reminded of the things that you hope to achieve in the next few weeks.
Perhaps setting a count down on your phone to the last day of school, date of graduation or even departure date for vacation will also be motivation to do well in school during these last few weeks. Surrounding yourself with motivated people will also help. It is natural for those with similar intentions to motivate each other.
I would say that having friends who promote the potential out of others not only grows friendship, but keeps friends excited and passionately enthusiastic about future endeavors.
It is normal right now to be in a lull, but it is important not to feel burnt out and to help yourself stay motivated. We owe it to ourselves, especially after all of the hard work and dedication that we have put into school thus far. Think of the light at the end of the tunnel, keep your eyes on the prize and make yourself proud.
You’ve got this; make sure to get sleep and nourishment. Like my teacher once said, “Everything will work out, even if you have to make it happen.” So go make yourself proud, work hard and be your own motivation. We are our own supporters and fighters, we motivate ourselves to be the person that we see ourselves molding into. We are our own drivers to finishing the year off strong.
Let’s strengthen our end game because the year is almost over and it is time to finish off strong.
