Recently, as college kids do, I was surfing Netflix for shows. After a while, I found myself watch Dave Letterman's new show " My First Guest," and I must say: wow.
Growing up at the time I did, I had no real interest in late night shows (if I could stay up that late), and by the time I was "old enough" to enjoy a talk show, Letterman was in his final years on TV. So, I never really was able to fully appreciate Letterman like I wish I could have, until now. While watching his new show, I was able to see how great he really is. He's personable, charming (even with the beard), funny, and even has a bit of wit about the way he carries himself.
In his first episode, his guest was Barack Obama. From the second he brought the president out on stage, I was engaged. Throughout the entire conversation, Letterman and Obama were able to have what seemed like a real, genuine talk, which we all know is very rare with politicians.
The talk started with Letterman asking about life after presidency, which was cool to hear. However, as it continued, they got into some real deep topics, and being the masterful conversationalist that he is, Letterman was able to convince Obama to share his own personal opinion, which was also very intriguing. Towards the end, we got to hear about Obama bringing his daughter to school and hear about how he felt as a dad after she left, rather than hearing about how he felt as a politician.
Overall, this show had a phenomenal start, and it's something that everyone can be interested in. So, next time you go to Netflix and can't find a show, watch "My Next Guest." You won't be disappointed.
