One night after getting home late, I turned on the TV to see this peculiar show called “Dating Naked.” Naturally, curiosity got the best of me, and I had to leave it on to see what it was all about. As it turns out, these two individuals go on the show to meet that "special someone." They go on three dates, and at the end, they choose the person that they had the strongest connection with. To be honest, my first impression of the show was “What on Earth is this? I can’t believe this is actually a show; it’s so weird.” But since I’m being totally honest here, after my initial confusion, I was hooked.
I got to know Chris and Kerri, and I felt like I knew them personally since I was pulling for them to find someone to date. I watched a couple episodes before school started, and I didn’t want to miss them. When I moved in, I was watching the latest episodes, and my roommates came in to see what I was watching. And they had the same initial reaction I did. “Liz what even is this? I can’t believe you watch it.” But then they got hooked, too.
We started watching them together once I explained to them what was going on, and it became a source of roommate bonding for us. We were all rooting for Chris and Kerri to end up together, and we always took polls on who they should pick as their “keepers” for the week. Week after week, we watched them go on dates and continued bonding over our mutual reality TV guilty pleasure.
On Sept. 16, the season finale of "Dating Naked" aired, and the nation found out who Chris and Kerri chose. Naturally, my roommates and I watched with anticipation, waiting to see how the show would end. We all had mixed feelings about what we wanted to happened, but across the board, there was a little part of each of us hoping for Chris and Kerri fall in love. Needless to say, we were shocked that Chris chose Kerri and that Kerri did not reciprocate, instead choosing Mason. Hopefully things work out well for them, and hopefully Chris finds someone soon.
Sadly, this season of "Dating Naked" and playing for keeps with Chris and Kerri is over, and all we have to say is, VH1, the pressure is on to find people as good and likable as Chris and Kerri for next season; that’s a tough act to follow.
