Dare To Be Different, Dare To Be You

Embrace who you are, and inspire others to do the same.

Dare To Be Different, Dare To Be You

Have you ever noticed little things that you like, that perhaps others don't? Do you consider yourself difficult to blend in, or just plain different? Well, I do, and my strongest opinion is that you do the same.

No person in this world is the same. Even twins are completely different in their own ways. In this day, a lot of people are too focused on being a part of a group, and being like someone else. This could not be more wrong. You should strive to be your own person, and achieving your own personal individuality.

There's many things you can do to be different, or to just frankly be who you are. Listen to the music YOU want, dress the way YOU like, and go out and do things that make YOU happy. If you want to get that tattoo, get it. If you want to buy that shirt that everyone thinks is ugly, buy it! If you want to rock that 2-piece bathing suit that everyone says you can't, do it anyways! Live your life for yourself, not for everybody else.

One of my favorite movie lines, is from the movie Step Up 2.

"Be yourself, because life is too short to be anyone else."

Truer words could not be spoken. Everyone has their own life, so why be someone else. Especially when YOUR life was made for YOU specifically.

I went out to dinner one time, and it was at a japanese steakhouse; one of my favorite places. There was a little girl there, and she couldn't have been older than 8 months. She was the sweetest thing there, and she kept looking at me, and smiling, so I would wave at her and make funny faces. Her parents told me thank you for conversing with their daughter. I was confused, and asked them why. With a smile on their faces, they simply responded with,

"You're exactly the kind of person we want our daughter to look up to. To show her that it's okay to embrace who you are and flaunt your individuality."

This was probably the nicest thing someone every said to me. At the time, I had purple hair, piercings, and tattoos. To be noticed for something like that, was something that I can't even describe. Most of the time, I hear bad remarks to how I represent myself. It just goes to show, that if you choose to be yourself and you are happy, others will notice.

I think that we all owe it to ourselves to be who we are. What good would come from getting to know someone, if they are just pretending to be someone else? It wouldn't, because that means they are hiding who they truly are, and that is never okay. Embrace who you are, and inspire others to do the same.

Live each day as if it were your last, and enjoy it to the fullest. What better way is there to do that, than to embrace yourself, and flaunt just how awesome you know that you are.

Too much of this world is set on being the same, so dare to be different in this life. Everyday, you should DARE TO BE YOU.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
